In the recently concluded MTV VMAJ on June 23, EXILE wins their fourth “Video of the Year” with the title track “Rising Sun”. The group previously won the “Video of the Year” award on 2008 with “I Believe”, 2009 with “Ti Amo (Chapter 2)”, 2010 with “Futatsu no Kuchibiru”.
EXILE also won other awards from MTV VMAJ earning them “Most Wins Overall” with a total of 10 awards. Ranking on 2nd is Rip Slyme with 9 total awards, 3rd is Namie Amuro with 8 total awards, 4th is Kumi Koda with 7 total awards. Check out the table below for total awards.
The MTV Video Music Awards Japan are the Japanese version of the MTV Video Music Awards. Artists are awarded for their songs and videos through online voting from the same channel viewers. Initially Japan was part of the MTV Asia Awards, which included all Asian countries, but because of the musical variety existent in Japan, in May of 2002 began to hold their own awards independently.
The 2012 MTV Video Music Awards Japan was held in Chiba at the Makuhari Messe and was hosted by Japanese trio Perfume. For a more information on the event as well as nominees and winners, check out another post here.
