At the recent opening of Tokyo Sky Tree, there are plans to add autonomous robots which will serve as guides to tourists and visitors. The new robot guides will feature an orange and white color body resembling that of the Tokyo Tower.
The robots stand about 160 cm and weigh at 200 kg which will also carry a scoreboard ticker on its head to teach facts about Tokyo and the tower. The robots are fluent in four languages: Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean. The plan is to deploy them in Sky Tree‘s Main observatory on August 1.
However the maker of the robots, ALSOK, named it “An9-PR” – which means they would need a friendlier and easier to remember name for the robots. If you happen to visit the Tokyo Sky Tree anytime before July 22, there will be a suggestion box for visitors to put in suggestions on what would the robot’s name would be. What name would you give to the robot?
