There are plans of the city government of Shanghai, China to install free WiFi on its public buses. This project would enable commuters to be connected online even when they are travelling.
Cooperation from Shanghai Bashi Group with Shanghai Telecom Co and the local government will prepare the technology such as WiFi routers and installation to these public transportation. Target people are office workers who most likely uses Wifi-enable smart phones or tablets and uses buses primarily as their transportation.
Access to free Wi-Fi on public transportation such as subways and buses is already available in other cities like Guangzhou in southern China and if the plan would push through, the public will enjoy the free connectivity while riding the bus.
