Warner Bros. finally got some news about the big-budget adaptation to the popular science fiction anime adaptation Robotech. The director Nic Mathieu is chosen to direct the live-action adaptation which has been in development since 2007.
The film is being produced by Akiva Goldsman and Tobey Maguire along with Matthew Plouffe, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell and is expected to have major franchise potential.
The anime Robotech, produced by Harmony Gold USA in association with Tatsunoko Production Co., Ltd., is based on several anime titles – science fiction mecha anime Macross which was created by Shuji Kawamori of Studio Nue in 1982.
Nic Mathieu is also chosen to direct several upcoming films such as “The Wind” and “The Story of Your Life”.
